What Will the Infrared Sauna Pod do for me?
The Infrared Sauna Pod features a cushioned ergonomic bed that lets you comfortably lay back, close your eyes and enjoy a relaxing, full-body massage in a soothing warm environment. You can adjust the dual wave vibration massage system to relax, relieve and soothe the back and shoulders, or focus your massage to the buttocks, hips and legs with synchronized dual vibration waves of ultimate relaxation.
How long will I spent inside the actual Pod per Session?
You can choose a 20 minute session or a 40 minute session. If you choose a 20 minute session your allocated time in the pod is 20 minutes. For a 40 minute session it would be 40 minutes. The reason being, time is allocated for administration, setting yourself up, getting undressed/dressed etc.
Recommendation for beginners
It is generally recommended that Infrared Sauna Pod beginner’s select lower temperatures and light intensity dual massage. The more you use the Infrared Sauna Pod, you will learn what settings provide you with the most enjoyable massage for your ultimate relaxation session.
What to bring with to your session

What’s the difference between a traditional sauna and the Cocoon Infrared Wellness Pod?
The goal of any sauna is to essentially “heat shock” the body to produce various health benefits. However, depending on the type of sauna, the process of heating the body differs.
Traditional saunas, whether a conventional or wet/humid sauna, heat the body externally by raising the air temperature to approximately 70-90 degrees Celsius. The dry or humid, hot air then enables the body to go through physiological processes to “cool” the body down/regulate your body temperature, thus creating a series of benefits, such as sweating, removing toxins, etc.
The Pod is a unique Infrared Sauna Pod that delivers infrared and red light. While heating the air (like a conventional sauna) raises the temperature throughout the entire Pod, the infrared wavelengths directly penetrates your body, thus externally AND internally raising your core temperature. Unlike most traditional and infrared saunas chambers, the Infrared Sauna Pod provides an optimal, relaxing sauna experience, allowing you to lay comfortably with your head exposed. While having your head exposed and your body enclosed in the Infrared Sauna Pod, you can raise/control the temperature to heat your body while breathing clean, purified air during your session.
Who can use the Infrared Sauna Pod?
The Pod can be used as a heated sauna. If a client is in poor health, they should speak with their doctor before using the Pod and any questions should be directed to a medical professional. Women who are pregnant, members who have cardio health problems, and are sensitive to heat (i.e., conditions such as erythema ab igne, etc.) or dehydrated must not use the Infrared Sauna Pod. *Also see our Contraindications Section.
The Infrared Sauna Pod has a weight limit of 158kg. Height Limit of 2.03m. When shorter than 1.60m we recommend you using the booster pillow to ensure your head is still comfortable outside the Pod.
What should I wear during my Infrared Sauna Pod session?
Clients may wear loose-fitting clothes, athletic clothing, swimwear, undergarments, or in the nude (clients will be laying on a towel during the session).
Note: Although the Infrared Sauna Pod will produce ambient dry heat within the chamber, the main advantage of the sauna session comes from the infrared rays. Therefore, wearing appropriate clothing/minimal clothing is optimal for the infrared rays to penetrate through the body.
What should I expect during my first session?
Note: PRIOR to your first session, it is important to drink plenty of water!
For your first session, you will be shown to the Infrared Sauna Pod room, where you will be explained the process of your session. Your session will last 20 or 40 minutes. 10-15 minutes into your first session, a staff member will knock and open the door slightly to check on you and see if you have any questions. During your session, you may feel like you are not getting warm enough in the first 10-15 minutes, this is typical and part of the process of your body slowly acclimating itself to consistent internal heating. It is important to note that depending on your current health condition, we recommend to gradually increase the heat intensity after a few sessions due to acclimating your body to internal and external heat (especially if you have never used an infrared sauna.) Once your session is complete, you will slowly sit up and re-adjust yourself to your surroundings, as you may experience light headedness due to laying down for a prolonged period (orthostatic hypertension). There are no activity restrictions after your sauna sessions, however, it is important to continue to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration from your session!
Am I able to return to normal activities after my Infrared Sauna Pod session?
There are no activity restrictions after your sauna session. However, you must take into consideration your body’s physiological exertion during your session depending on the heat intensity and your current health condition. Continue to drink plenty of water throughout the day after your session.
Are the Infrared Sauna Pod safe?
Yes. Please review the list of contraindications and precautionary restrictions for the Infrared Sauna Pod usage. To have a safe Pod experience, it is vital to ensure you are hydrated before and after a session. Consult with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about your health prior to your Infrared Sauna Pod session.
Can you use the Infrared Sauna Pod if you are pregnant?
Pregnant woman MUST NOT use the Cocoon since it elevates the body’s temperature.
How Often Should You Use the Infrared Sauna Pod?

With continued use, typically 1-3 sessions per week, Infrared Sauna Pod users will see a significant improvement in the way they look and feel. Depending on your own personal goals and reasons for using the Infrared Sauna Pod, this will determine the frequency of usage.

Infrared Sauna Pod before or after exercise?
You can use the Infrared Sauna Pod before or after exercise depending on your goals. Firstly, you want to consider your water intake whether you exercise before or after sauna usage. During the session, your body will sweat and your heart rate will increase, therefore, causing you to lose water and electrolytes (1).
Here are a few facts regarding usage of the Infrared Sauna Pod pre-or-post exercise:
- A light to moderate session prior to a workout session will increase blood flow to your body, providing nourishment to your muscles and cells, aiding in increased caloric burning. Conversely, if you use the Infrared Sauna Pod before exercise your muscles will be very relaxed and you risk injury or becoming dehydrated (1).
- Infrared Sauna Pod usage after exercise can help increase endurance due to hyper thermic conditioning. Furthermore, the effects of increased heat exposure promote increased production of “heat shock” proteins and human growth hormone, helping to build muscle mass and prevent muscular atrophy.
